7. Project Execution

7.1 Access to Property

7.2 Permits and Approvals

Where required, we will assist with obtaining necessary building permits and approvals. However, ultimate responsibility for compliance with local regulations rests with the property owner. Any delays due to permit issues may affect the project timeline.

7.3 Project Timeline

We will provide an estimated timeline for your project. While we strive to meet deadlines, timelines are estimates and may be affected by:

  • Weather conditions
  • Unforeseen structural issues
  • Delays in material delivery
  • Changes to the scope of work
  • Permit or approval delays

7.4 Site Safety

We maintain comprehensive insurance and follow all health and safety regulations. You agree to keep children and pets away from work areas for their safety.

8. Warranties and Guarantees

8.1 Workmanship Guarantee

We provide a comprehensive 10-year guarantee on our workmanship, covering defects arising from our work. This guarantee is subject to:

  • Normal wear and tear exclusions
  • Proper maintenance of the converted space
  • No unauthorized modifications
  • Full payment of all invoices

8.2 Materials Warranty

9. Cancellation and Refunds

9.1 Cooling-Off Period

If the contract was signed at your home or our office following a visit to your property, you may have a statutory cooling-off period of 14 days from the date of contract signing. During this period, you may cancel the contract with a full refund of any deposit paid, minus any reasonable costs already incurred.

9.2 Cancellation by Client

If you cancel after the cooling-off period:

  • Before work starts: Deposit is forfeited to cover administrative costs
  • After work starts: You are liable for all costs incurred plus reasonable profit on work completed

9.3 Cancellation by Company

We reserve the right to cancel the contract if you breach any terms, fail to make payments, or if circumstances beyond our control make it impossible to complete the work. In such cases, you will receive a refund for any work not completed, minus any costs incurred.

10. Liability and Insurance

10.1 Our Liability

We carry comprehensive public liability insurance and employer's liability insurance. We accept liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Breach of terms implied by law that cannot be excluded
  • Damage to your property caused by our negligence

10.2 Limitations of Liability

Subject to clause 10.1, our total liability shall not exceed the total contract value. We are not liable for:

  • Indirect or consequential losses
  • Loss of profits, business, or revenue
  • Pre-existing defects not identified during survey
  • Damage caused by your negligence or third parties

10.3 Your Insurance

We recommend that you notify your home insurance provider of the conversion work. You are responsible for ensuring adequate insurance coverage for your property during and after the project.

11. Complaints and Disputes

11.1 Complaints Procedure

If you have a complaint about our service:

  2. We will acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days
  3. We will investigate and respond within 14 working days
  4. If unresolved, we will arrange a meeting to discuss

11.2 Dispute Resolution

In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to attempt resolution through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, we recommend mediation before pursuing legal action.

11.3 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. General Provisions
